Overview
PennywAIse is a budgeting dashboard where users track income and expenses, set budgets and get written suggestions about their spending. I built it with two teammates. My part was authentication, the email workflows, some of the models and the Tailwind integration.
There is no hosted copy now: the free-tier host suspended the service, so the code and the repo's recording are the way to see it.
Key Features
- Transactions: record, edit and categorize income and expenses, with preset or custom categories and notes.
- Budgets: set a monthly amount overall or per category.
- AI insights: Google Gemini reads the user's spending and returns suggestions.
- Charts: Chart.js views of the monthly balance, category breakdown and trends over time.
- CSV export: download data for use elsewhere.
- Accounts: registration, login and email workflows on Django's authentication.
Technical Stack
Django and vanilla JavaScript on PostgreSQL, styled with Tailwind CSS, with the Gemini API behind the insights panel.
